Our performances at British School, Muscat, Oman
In December 2018, our 'Linked' company visited British School Muscat, Oman for our first international tour. We were very excited as we set off from Paddington Station on November 30th, for our night flight from Heathrow.
Arriving 7 hours later - with a 4 hour time difference - we were settled into our hotel for a sleep before meeting our hosts for the first time.
The facilities at BSM are stunning. Over the last 8 years, Kai Vacher, the principal, has developed the school both in terms of facilities and learning. In fact they have recently won the award for British International School of the Year (awarded by Independent School Parent magazine). They have also been shortlisted for TES International School of the Year Award - a well deserved nomination for which we wish them luck! Over the next few months the building of the new Performing Arts Centre will be complete and we are very proud to be able to be part of its launch in 2020!
We performed to students from year 6, their parents, and all BSM students from year 7 up to post 16. The students, many of who had never seen live theatre before, were both engaged and engaging. Their contributions were perceptive and their enthusiasm infectious.
We delivered a drama workshop on the final day to year 9s who were considering taking up Drama as an exam option, year 10 and 11 who were currently studying for their GCSE Drama, and post 16 students who had requested to come along and join in.

We felt so honoured to have the opportunity to perform at this fantastic school, and are proud to have been asked to return! Thank you to our new partner school for inviting us and making us feel so welcome!
What the students had to say:
'The most powerful part for me was when the actors showed the family not talking.'
'I would like them to come again because it was interactive and interesting'
'Amazing!'
'I would recommend it to other schools as the play spreads an important message about internet safety'
'I would like N-Act to come again with another performance'
'My favourite part was Links day and the interpretation of the future'
'Immersive!'
'An ingenious way to inform us about the subject.'
'To the people I recommend it to I would say 'Prepare to be overwhelmed!''
'Listen carefully to the powerful message'
'I liked the game show'
'Captivating! Thank you visiting our school'

"For many of our students this was their very first experience of Live Theatre and the response, following the presentation, was really positive." Anna Vacher, Head of Drama, BSM
"As a drama teacher I could see the benefit of the N-Act performance in the KS3 drama classes that followed. We had a shared reference point for drama techniques and the students were quick to imitate the cast approaches in their improvisation work.
The older students were interested to see how theatre can be used as a platform for communicating issues to an audience and the GCSE students recognised the structural features of the piece and the devices in place to help to give the piece shape and form. They were also delighted to see and to meet professional actors during the workshop session" Anna Vacher, Head of Drama BSM
"To the people I recommend it to I would say 'Prepare to be overwhelmed!' "(Year 7 student)
